Teleconsultation in Algeria: Seeing a Doctor Remotely
Medical follow-up, quick advice, prescription renewal: teleconsultation saves many trips. Here is when it is appropriate and how to prepare for it.

Getting medical advice without travelling: that is the promise of teleconsultation. In Algeria, where seeing a specialist can mean hours on the road — sometimes from one wilaya to another — a video consultation has become a real alternative for many everyday situations.
What exactly is a teleconsultation?
It is a medical consultation carried out remotely, over video, with a qualified doctor. You describe your symptoms, show things where useful (a rash, a swelling…), and the doctor guides you: advice, a prescription, further tests or an in-person visit if needed.
When is teleconsultation appropriate?
- Chronic disease follow-up: diabetes, hypertension, asthma… between two visits to the practice.
- Quick advice on mild symptoms: a cold, a sore throat, passing digestive trouble.
- Going over test results: understanding your blood work without another trip to the practice.
- Renewing a long-term treatment, when the doctor considers it possible.
- A first specialist opinion when none practises near you.
When should you avoid teleconsultation?
A video call does not replace a physical examination. Chest pain, difficulty breathing, an injury, a high fever in an infant: these call for an in-person consultation or the emergency room. When in doubt, call the SAMU (16) or the Protection civile (14).
How does a teleconsultation work on Yadoct?
From the Yadoct app, you pick a doctor available for teleconsultation, book your slot and start the secure video call at the scheduled time. At the end, the doctor can issue an electronic prescription, available directly on your phone.
Preparing for your video consultation
- Settle in a quiet, well-lit place with a stable connection (Wi-Fi or 4G).
- Have your list of medications, allergies and medical history ready.
- Write down your symptoms: since when, how often, what makes them worse?
- Keep your latest test results or reports at hand.
